Womb Shells

Shelters, armours, echo chambers, cloaks, choc absorbers, bastions, chestplates, envelopes, sheildings, pelts, shells, ramparts, enclosures, sacred vessels, refuges, covers, cradles, cocoons, dens, buffers ...

In 2011, I created the first of a series of wall sculptures called "Womb Shells", sorts of shelters, shields, pelts-cradles.  This series is ongoing.

Like distant echoes, the Womb Shells resonate through time with an ancient power that is rooted in the archaic remnants of our ancestral mothers.  Some are belly chambers that house creation, others are tombstone chambers preserving memories of extinct lives.  They vibrate with the power of elemental forces, the whispering of wild creatures or are simply filled with mysteries and fantabulous stories.

These womb shells are sanctuaries that shelter what is most vulnerable.  They are defensive barriers that protect their content from the chaotic winds of time.  These matrices are designed to honor creation and life.
